Wuthering Heights is home to the Earnshaw family who, adopt an orphan called Heathcliff. Catherine Earnshaw becomes great friends with Heathcliff and they fall in love. But Catherine decides to marry Edgar Linton since she feels it would degrade her to marry Heathcliff. Desperate without his Catherine, Heathcliff runs away. But when he returns a few years later a series of events starts to destroy the relationship between the Lintons and the Earnshaws.

Emily Jane Brontë Thornton, Yorkshire, Inglaterra; 30 de julio de 1818-Haworth, Inglaterra; 19 de diciembre de 1848 fue una escritora británica. Su obra más importante es la novela Cumbres borrascosas 1847 , considerada un clásico de la literatura inglesa, que fue publicada bajo el seudónimo masculino de Ellis Bell para sortear así las dificultades que tenían las mujeres del siglo xix en el reconocimiento de su trabajo literario. La novela, considerada inicialmente como salvaje y burda por los críticos, fue reconocida con el tiempo como la expresión más genuina, profunda y contenida del alma romántica inglesa y una de las obras más importantes de la época victoriana.
