PARSIPUR SHAHRNUSH
Shahrnush Parsipur nació en Irán en 1946. Comenzó su carrera como escritora de ficción y productora en la Televisión y Radio Nacional de Irán. Fue encarcelada durante casi cinco años por el gobierno islamista sin ser acusada formalmente. Poco después de su liberación, publicó Mujeres sin hombres y fue arrestada y encarcelada nuevamente, esta vez por su retrato franco y desafiante de la sexualidad femenina.
A pesar de seguir prohibida en Irán, la novela se convirtió en un éxito de ventas clandestino en ese país y ha sido traducida a numerosos idiomas en todo el mundo. También es autora de Touba y el significado de la noche, entre muchos otros libros, y actualmente vive en el exilio en el norte de California.
