JACK LONDON
Jack London 1876-1916 was born John Chaney in California USA. In 1896 he was caught up in the gold rush to the Klondike river in north-west Canada, which became the inspiration for The Call of the Wild 1903 and White Fang 1906 . Jack London became one of the most widely read writers in the world.

Jack London nace en San Francisco, en 1876. Desempeña diversos oficios -marino, pescador e incluso contrabandista-, antes de marchar a Alaska, empujado por la fiebre del oro. Cuando regresa a San Francisco, comienza a relatar sus experiencias, y pronto se convierte en un escritor famoso. Sus obras están protagonizadas por hombres y animales que luchan contra el entorno y que sobreviven en muy duras condiciones. Entre las más conocidas figuran "La llamada de la selva" 1903 y "Colmillo blanco" 1906 . Fallece en 1916, a los cuarenta años.
