Lucille Colandro nació en Sacramento, California, hija de Anthony C. y Marie R. Colandro. Estudió en la Universidad Estatal de Pensilvania, donde obtuvo su licenciatura y maestría. Es conocida por su serie de libros infantiles "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed...", que comenzó como una propuesta humorística para los clubes de lectura escolares.
