Nicola Yoon nació el 1 de octubre de 1972 en Jamaica y creció en Brooklyn, Nueva York. Es una autora estadounidense de literatura juvenil, conocida por sus novelas Todo, todo Everything, Everything y El sol también es una estrella The Sun Is Also a Star , ambas adaptadas al cine. Estudió ingeniería electrónica en la Universidad Cornell y luego obtuvo un máster en Escritura Creativa en Emerson College. Antes de dedicarse a la escritura, trabajó como programadora durante más de veinte años.
