Khalil Gibran fue un poeta, filósofo, pintor y ensayista libanés-estadounidense nacido en 1883 en Bisharri, Líbano. Es mundialmente conocido por su obra El profeta 1923 , una colección de ensayos poéticos sobre temas como el amor, la libertad, el trabajo y la muerte, que ha sido traducida a más de 100 idiomas. Emigró a Estados Unidos con su familia en su adolescencia y vivió en Boston, donde desarrolló su talento artístico y literario. Estudió arte en París y fue influenciado por corrientes místicas, espirituales y filosóficas de Oriente y Occidente. Su estilo combina simbolismo, espiritualidad y una profunda sensibilidad humana. Murió en Nueva York en 1931, y sus restos fueron trasladados a su tierra natal, donde hoy existe un museo en su honor.
