Lemony Snicket es el seudónimo de Daniel Handler, nacido el 28 de febrero de 1970 en San Francisco, California. Estudió en la Universidad Wesleyana, donde obtuvo su licenciatura en 1992, y trabajó posteriormente como editor y guionista. Bajo el nombre de Lemony Snicket publicó la serie Una serie de eventos desafortunados, iniciada en 1999 y compuesta por trece volúmenes, que alcanzó gran difusión internacional y fue adaptada al cine y la televisión. Además ha escrito otras obras como All the Wrong Questions y colaborado en proyectos literarios y musicales. Reside en San Francisco con su esposa Lisa Brown y su hijo.
