Vincent van Gogh fue un pintor neerlandés nacido en 1853, considerado uno de los máximos exponentes del postimpresionismo. Su obra se caracteriza por el uso expresivo del color, pinceladas intensas y temas como paisajes, retratos y escenas cotidianas. Aunque tuvo una vida marcada por problemas de salud mental y pobreza, produjo más de 2.000 obras, entre ellas La noche estrellada y Los girasoles. Su estilo influyó profundamente en el arte moderno. Murió en 1890 a los 37 años, sin haber alcanzado reconocimiento en vida. Hoy es celebrado como uno de los artistas más importantes de la historia.
