POE EDGAR ALLAN
Edgar Allan Poe nació en Boston el 19 de enero de 1809 y murió en Baltimore el 7 de octubre de 1849. Hijo de actores itinerantes, quedó huérfano muy pequeño y fue criado por John Allan, de quien tomó su segundo nombre. Estudió en la Universidad de Virginia y en la Academia Militar de West Point, aunque no concluyó sus estudios. Se destacó como poeta, narrador, crítico y periodista, considerado maestro del cuento moderno, pionero del relato policial y de la ciencia ficción. Entre sus obras más célebres figuran El cuervo, Los crímenes de la calle Morgue y El gato negro.
