Marie Kondo nació el 9 de octubre de 1984 en Tokio, Japón. Desde joven mostró interés por la organización y comenzó a trabajar como consultora mientras estudiaba en la Tokyo Woman's Christian University. Es autora de varios libros sobre el orden, entre ellos La magia del orden, traducido a numerosos idiomas y con millones de copias vendidas. Su método KonMari se centra en conservar solo aquello que genera alegría. Fundó la empresa KonMari Media y en 2019 protagonizó el programa de Netflix Tidying Up with Marie Kondo. Reside en Los Ángeles, está casada con Takumi Kawahara y tiene tres hijos.
