Gormenghast is the vast, crumbling castle to which the seventy-seventh Earl, Titus Groan, is lord and heir. Titus is expected to rule this gothic labyrinth of turrets and dungeons and his eccentric and wayward subjects according to strict age-old rituals, but things are changing in the castle. Mervyn Peake 1911-1968 fue un escritor, poeta e ilustrador británico, nacido en Kuling, China. Pasó su infancia en Tientsin y se trasladó al Reino Unido a los 12 años. Artista polifacético, destacó por la trilogía de Gormenghast Titus Groan, Gormenghast, Titus Alone . También ilustró clásicos como La isla del tesoro y Alicia en el País de las Maravillas. Su estilo mezcla fantasía gótica, imaginación visual y un profundo sentido poético.
