Margarita García Robayo Cartagena, Colombia, 1980 es autora de las novelas Hasta que pase un huracán, Lo que no aprendí y Educación sexual, compiladas en El sonido de las olas; de varios libros de cuentos, entre los que se destaca Cosas peores, ganador del Premio Literario Casa de las Américas 2014, y del ensayo Primera persona. En 2018 se publicó en inglés una compilación de cuentos y novelas bajo el título Fish Soup, que formó parte del prestigioso listado «Books of the Year» del diario The Times. En 2020 se publicó la traducción de su novela Tiempo muerto bajo el título Holiday Heart, merecedora del English PEN Award. En Anagrama ha publicado La encomienda y El afuera. Su obra ha sido traducida al inglés, francés, portugués, italiano, hebreo, turco, islandés, danés, chino, entre otros idiomas. Vive en Buenos Aires.
