MURAKAMI HARUKI
Kioto, 1949. El más popular y prestigioso autor japonés vivo, ganador de numerosos premios literarios dentro y fuera de su país. Nieto de un monje budista e hijo de profesores de literatura japonesa, estudió en la Universidad de Waseda, pero se formó, sobre todo, escuchando jazz, viendo películas de Hollywood y leyendo a autores como Richard Brautigan, Jack Kerouac o Kurt Vonnegut. Ese fervor por la cultura norteamericana lo llevó a dirigir durante años un club de jazz y, después, a traducir a autores como Raymond Carver, John Irving, J. D.
