He didn't find any but he returned with a story that is now one of America's greatest classics. This is the story of Buck, a wonderful, big dog. One day someone takes him from his home in sunny California to the very cold Klondike and he must work. Life is now very difficult and Buck must learn how to survive. Jack London nace en San Francisco, en 1876. Desempeña diversos oficios -marino, pescador e incluso contrabandista-, antes de marchar a Alaska, empujado por la fiebre del oro. Cuando regresa a San Francisco, comienza a relatar sus experiencias, y pronto se convierte en un escritor famoso. Sus obras están protagonizadas por hombres y animales que luchan contra el entorno y que sobreviven en muy duras condiciones. Entre las más conocidas figuran "La llamada de la selva" 1903 y "Colmillo blanco" 1906 . Fallece en 1916, a los cuarenta años.
