Nacido en Warwickshire, Richard Jones ha estado viviendo y trabajando en Devon durante más de 20 años. Después de graduarse con honores en Diseño Gráfico e Ilustración, permaneció un tiempo más para completar un doctorado. Entre los libros que ha ilustrado se encuentran The Child of Dreams de Irena Brignull con Walker Books; Our Planet, The One Place We All Call Home de Matt Whyman con Harper Collins; y The Proper Way To Meet a Hedgehog and Other How-To Poems, editado por Paul Janeczko con Candlewick y Walker Books.
Su libro ilustrado The Snow Lion, de Jim Helmore, fue publicado en 2017 por Simon and Schuster y ha sido traducido a 20 idiomas. Ha escrito e ilustrado tres libros ilustrados propios: Perdu 2020 , Little Bear 2021 y Where Have You Been, Little Cat? agosto de 2022 .
