The Penguin English Library edition Many readers would claim that The Adventure of the Copper Beeches or The Man with the Twisted Lip was their favourite Sherlock Holmes story - but then that would be doing an injustice to The Adventure of the Yellow Face and The Problem of Thor Bridge. It is just as well that in the end we do not have to choose - as if we did then there would be no doubt it should be The Adventure of the Six Napoleons.
CONAN DOYLE ARTHUR
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle nació en Edimburgo el 22 de mayo de 1859 y murió en Crowborough el 7 de julio de 1930. Fue médico y escritor británico, célebre por crear al detective Sherlock Holmes. Estudió medicina en la Universidad de Edimburgo y ejerció como médico en Southsea entre 1882 y 1890. Publicó su primera novela, Estudio en escarlata, en 1887, iniciando una serie de relatos protagonizados por Holmes y el doctor Watson. También escribió novelas históricas, obras de teatro y ciencia ficción. Participó como médico en la guerra de los bóeres y defendió el espiritismo tras la muerte de su hijo en la Primera Guerra Mundial. Su legado literario sigue siendo influyente y ampliamente leído.
