SOLDIER'S PAY
A group of soldiers travel by train across the United States in the aftermath of the First World War. One of them is horribly scarred, blind and almost entirely mute. Moved by his condition, a few civilian fellow travellers decided to see him home to Georgia, to a family who believed him dead, and a fiancée who grew tired of waiting. Faulkner's first novel deals powerfully with lives blighted by war.

FAULKNER WILLIAM
William Cuthbert Faulkner nació el 25 de septiembre de 1897 en New Albany, Misisipi, y creció en Oxford. Fue hijo de Murry Cuthbert Falkner y Maud Butler. Abandonó la enseñanza secundaria y trabajó en distintos oficios antes de dedicarse a la escritura. Estudió en la Universidad de Misisipi y en la Universidad de Virginia. Se casó en 1929 con Estelle Oldham, con quien tuvo una hija. Escribió novelas y cuentos enmarcados en el modernismo, entre ellas El ruido y la furia, Mientras agonizo, Luz de agosto y ¡Absalón, Absalón!. Falleció el 6 de julio de 1962 en Byhalia, Misisipi.
