Leigh Bardugo nació el 6 de abril de 1975 en Jerusalén y creció en Los Ángeles, Estados Unidos, junto a sus abuelos. Estudió Literatura Inglesa en la Universidad de Yale y antes de dedicarse por completo a la escritura trabajó en publicidad, periodismo y en el ámbito del maquillaje y los efectos especiales. En 2012 publicó su primera novela, Sombra y hueso, que dio inicio a la trilogía Grisha y al universo literario conocido como Grishaverse. Posteriormente alcanzó gran éxito con la bilogía Seis de cuervos y la trilogía Rey de cicatrices. También ha sido productora ejecutiva en adaptaciones audiovisuales de sus obras.
