Sherlock Holmes is the greatest detective the world has ever seen, and he knows it. As the famous bank-robber, John Clay, says to him, 'You think of everything, Mr Holmes. You're very clever.' People come to him with problems that no one, not even the police, can solve. Holmes sits, and thinks, and smokes his pipe, and in the end he finds the answer. In these plays, based on two of his stories, Holmes, helped by his old friend, Dr Watson, uses his great intelligence to solve two unusual and interesting cases.

CONAN DOYLE ARTHUR
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle nació en Edimburgo el 22 de mayo de 1859 y murió en Crowborough el 7 de julio de 1930. Fue médico y escritor británico, célebre por crear al detective Sherlock Holmes. Estudió medicina en la Universidad de Edimburgo y ejerció como médico en Southsea entre 1882 y 1890. Publicó su primera novela, Estudio en escarlata, en 1887, iniciando una serie de relatos protagonizados por Holmes y el doctor Watson. También escribió novelas históricas, obras de teatro y ciencia ficción. Participó como médico en la guerra de los bóeres y defendió el espiritismo tras la muerte de su hijo en la Primera Guerra Mundial. Su legado literario sigue siendo influyente y ampliamente leído.
