Scott Thornbury es un lingüista, profesor y autor neozelandés especializado en la enseñanza del idioma inglés ELT . Se graduó en la Universidad de Auckland y obtuvo un máster en la Universidad de Reading. Fue profesor en la Universidad The New School de Nueva York. Es cofundador del movimiento Dogme ELT, propuesta metodológica orientada a la enseñanza sin libros de texto. Ha publicado numerosos libros sobre metodología de la enseñanza de idiomas, entre los que destacan How to Teach Grammar, Uncovering Grammar y An A-Z of ELT, recibiendo reconocimientos como el premio ELTon de la British Council.
