Karin Slaughter nació en Covington, Georgia, el 6 de enero de 1971 y es escritora estadounidense especializada en novela negra y de suspense. Estudió en la Universidad Estatal de Georgia y trabajó como diseñadora y vendedora antes de dedicarse por completo a la literatura. Su primera obra, Ceguera, publicada en 2001, fue traducida a más de treinta idiomas y dio inicio a la serie del Condado de Grant. Posteriormente creó la serie protagonizada por Will Trent, iniciada en 2006 con Tríptico.
