MAGUIRE GREGORY
Gregory Maguire estudió Filología y Literatura inglesa en la Universidad Tufts y posteriormente se especializó en literatura infantil en Simmons College, donde impartió clases durante siete años. En 1987 cofundó una institución educativa sin fines de lucro dedicada a la promoción de la lectura, que dirigió por más de dos décadas. Su primer libro infantil, The Lightning Time, apareció en 1978, y a partir de 1995 se orientó hacia novelas para adultos que revisan cuentos clásicos. Entre sus obras más conocidas se encuentran Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister y Mirror Mirror. Wicked, su reinterpretación de El mago de Oz, fue adaptada en 2003 como musical en Broadway, alcanzando gran repercusión internacional. Además de su labor como novelista, es miembro del National Children's Book and Literacy Alliance y ha publicado más de una docena de títulos que exploran la relación entre mitos, cuentos tradicionales y nuevas perspectivas narrativas.
