John Farndon nació en 1960 en el Reino Unido. Estudió Ciencias de la Tierra y Literatura Inglesa en Jesus College, Universidad de Cambridge. Es escritor de libros de divulgación científica, obras de teatro, música y traducciones literarias. Ha publicado más de 300 títulos, muchos de ellos dirigidos a público infantil y juvenil, y ha sido finalista en varias ocasiones del premio Junior Science Book Prize. Entre sus obras destacan Do Not Open, The Wildlife Atlas y The Dictionary of the Earth. También ha escrito para adultos sobre temas de ciencia, naturaleza y educación. Reside en Londres.
