P. L. TRAVERS
P.L. Travers was born in 1899 in Maryborough in Queensland, Australia and was one of three sisters.She worked as a secretary, a dancer and an actress, but writing was P.L. Travers's real love, and for many years she was a journalist. It was while recuperating from a serious illness that she wrote Mary Poppins - "to while away the days, but also to put down something that had been in my mind for a long time", she said. She recieved an OBE in 1977, and died in 1996.

Pamela Lyndon Travers, nacida Helen Lyndon Goff el 9 de agosto de 1899 en Maryborough, Australia, fue escritora, actriz y periodista. Se trasladó a Inglaterra en 1924, donde adoptó el seudónimo P. L. Travers. En 1934 publicó Mary Poppins, obra que la hizo mundialmente famosa. Nunca se casó ni tuvo hijos biológicos, pero adoptó a un niño. Continuó escribiendo literatura infantil y fue nombrada Oficial de la Orden del Imperio Británico en 1977. Falleció en Londres el 23 de abril de 1996.
