Becky Albertalli nació el 17 de noviembre de 1982 en Atlanta, Estados Unidos. Es psicóloga clínica de formación y trabajó con adolescentes LGBTQ antes de dedicarse por completo a la escritura. Su primera novela, Yo, Simon, Homo Sapiens, publicada en 2015, obtuvo el William C. Morris Award y fue adaptada al cine en 2018 bajo el título Love, Simon, además de inspirar la serie Love, Victor. Desde entonces ha escrito varias novelas juveniles, entre ellas Leah on the Offbeat, Love, Creekwood y What If It's Us, esta última en coautoría con Adam Silvera. Vive en Atlanta con su esposo y sus hijos.
