Rachel Smythe es una autora e ilustradora de cómics nacida en Nueva Zelanda. Se graduó en Diseño Gráfico en la Whanganui School of Design y vive en Wellington, donde trabaja a tiempo completo en su serie Lore Olympus. Esta obra, lanzada en 2018 en la plataforma Webtoon, es una reinterpretación moderna del mito de Hades y Perséfone, y ha ganado múltiples premios, incluyendo varios Eisner. Smythe se describe como una folclorista digital y ha creado otras historias como The Doctor Pepper Show y The Doctor Foxglove Show, con estética neovictoriana.
