LAXNESS HALLDOR
Halldór Kilijan Laxness 1902-1998 fue un célebre escritor islandés criado en la granja Laxnes, cuyo nombre adoptó como apellido tras convertirse al catolicismo en 1922. Publicó su primera novela a los diecisiete años, dando inicio a una prolífica y viajera carrera literaria. Su compromiso político con el realismo social y el comunismo marcó su producción. Es autor de obras fundamentales como Campanas de Islandia y su obra maestra, Gente independiente 1935 . En 1955 recibió el Premio Nobel de Literatura por renovar la gran narrativa de su país, consolidándose como una figura literaria clave del siglo XX.
