Marcela Ferreira nació en Río de Janeiro y se trasladó a Londres siendo adolescente, donde tuvo que adaptarse rápidamente a un nuevo idioma y cultura. Esa experiencia marcó su trayectoria y se refleja en sus historias, que suelen abordar la amistad, el crecimiento y el cambio. Su primer libro ilustrado, The Queen Next Door, fue finalista del Waterstone's Illustrated Book Prize en 2024. En 2025 fue seleccionada para el programa de mentoría de GLL Literary's Foundation. Sus obras han sido publicadas en países como Reino Unido, Estados Unidos, Francia, Grecia, Portugal, Alemania, Holanda, Finlandia, Luxemburgo e Israel. Actualmente vive en Londres con su esposo, sus dos hijos y dos gatos rescatados.
