Shirley Jackson San Francisco 1916 - Bennington 1965 estudió en la Universidad de Syracuse. En 1948 publicó su primera novela, The Road Through the Wall, y el cuento «La lotería» incluido en el volumen Cuentos escogidos , un clásico del siglo xx. Su obra -que también incluye otras novelas, como Hangsaman 1951 , The Bird's Nest 1954 y El reloj de sol 1958 , y los ensayos autobiográficos Life Among the Savages 1953 y Raising Demons 1956 - ha ejercido una gran influencia en A.
