Frederick A family of field mice work day and night, gathering provisions for the coming winter. As they busily collect and store wheat, nuts and corn, they reproach Frederick for dreaming the lazy summer away. But during the long cold winter, when all their stores have been used up, Frederick proves to his friends that he has done his share.

Leo Lionni fue un escritor e ilustrador italoamericano nacido en Ámsterdam en 1910. Reconocido por revolucionar la literatura infantil con su estilo artístico basado en el collage, creó más de 40 libros para niños, entre ellos Swimmy, Frederick y Pequeño Azul y Pequeño Amarillo. Su obra combina sencillez visual con profundas fábulas sobre la vida, la comunidad y la creatividad. Falleció en Italia en 1999, dejando un legado que sigue inspirando a lectores de todas las edades.
