Commander Sam Vimes of the City Watch is used to trouble. There's always trouble in Ankh-Morpork.

Terry Pratchett 1948-2015 fue un prolífico escritor británico, conocido principalmente por su serie de novelas de fantasía humorística, "Mundodisco" Discworld . Además de esta exitosa serie, escribió otras novelas independientes, libros juveniles y colaboró en diversas obras con otros autores. Nació en Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, Inglaterra. Su primera novela, "El color de la magia", se publicó en 1983 y marcó el inicio de la serie Mundodisco. La serie, ambientada en un mundo plano apoyado por elefantes y una tortuga gigante, se caracteriza por su humor, sátira y personajes memorables. Escribió la serie juvenil "Johnny Maxwell", la novela independiente "Pérfido", y colaboró con Stephen Baxter en la serie "La Tierra Larga" y con Neil Gaiman en "Buenos Presagios". Fue nombrado Caballero del Imperio Británico en 2009 por sus servicios a la literatura. En 2007 se le diagnosticó Alzheimer, enfermedad que lo acompañó hasta su fallecimiento en 2015. A pesar de la enfermedad, continuó escribiendo y defendiendo la eutanasia. Publicó más de 70 novelas, traducidas a numerosos idiomas y con ventas millonarias. Sus obras fueron adaptadas a series de televisión, videojuegos y obras de teatro. Su obra es considerada una influencia importante en la literatura fantástica y de humor, y su personaje de la Muerte es especialmente querido por los lectores. Su lucha contra el Alzheimer y su defensa de la eutanasia dejaron una marca en la sociedad y la literatura.
