Lauren Child nació el 29 de noviembre de 1965 en Berkshire, Inglaterra, y es autora e ilustradora de literatura infantil. Estudió en Manchester Polytechnic y asistió brevemente a la London Art School antes de dedicarse a la escritura y la ilustración. Su primera obra publicada fue I Want a Pet en 1999, seguida ese mismo año por Clarice Bean, That's Me. En 2000 presentó Charlie and Lola con el libro I Will Not Ever Never Eat a Tomato, que recibió la medalla Kate Greenaway. Ha escrito también la serie Ruby Redfort y ha ilustrado nuevas ediciones de Pippi Longstocking. Sus libros han sido traducidos a numerosos idiomas y vendidos en millones de ejemplares.
