Leo Timmers es un ilustrador y escritor de libros infantiles belga. Comenzó a crear cómics cuando tenía 8 o 9 años y autoeditó uno de ellos unos años después. Estudió diseño gráfico y publicó su primer libro real, Blij met mij, en 2000. Sus obras se caracterizan por un estilo visual detallado y han sido traducidas a más de veinticinco idiomas. Entre sus títulos más reconocidos se encuentran Monkey on the Run y Elephant Island, ambos destacados por The New York Times. Parte de su trabajo ha sido adaptado a series animadas como Ziggy and the Zootram y Derek the Deep-Sea Doctor.
