David Williamson es un reconocido dramaturgo y guionista australiano, célebre por sus obras de teatro con aguda crítica social.
Nacido el 24 de febrero de 1942 en Melbourne, comenzó estudiando ingeniería mecánica, pero pronto se volcó al teatro, escribiendo sketches satíricos en la universidad. Se convirtió en uno de los autores más influyentes del teatro australiano contemporáneo, con obras como Don's Party, The Removalists y Emerald City. También escribió guiones para cine, como Gallipoli 1981 . Fue galardonado como Oficial de la Orden de Australia en 1983 por su contribución a las artes.
